Default umask in Ubuntu In Ubuntu's default umask is set to 022, which means that files created by you, anyone can read. For example, if you do not want to put your files in the home directory could read colleague (if you have more accounts), set to 027 (ie, default-RWR), in the file / etc / login.defs, / etc / profile. For some reason, however, it was not working, so I have set in ~ /. Bash_profile - might help restart X.
