The first French Air Force A400M Atlas accompanied by the Patrouille de France (Image F. Lancelot / EM company Airbus) LATEST UPDATE 15 MARCH 2014 | The new Airbus A400M turboprop airlifter made its first transatlantic flight on 10 March 2014, the French Air Force (Armée de l’Air) announced apollo missions on 14 March.
The Atlas with serial F-RBAB – the Brits call the aircraft Grizly – flying with the MEST (Multinational Entry into Service Team) took off from BA123 d Orléans with two tonnes of cargo and a AdlA Fennec helicopter (code UT) . The A400M made a stop over at Sal (Cape Verde) off the coast of Africa after six hours.
The Fennec was offloaded there and will be deployed apollo missions to protect the European space port in Kourou. The Atlas then flew in 2 hours and 15 minutes to Fort de France on Martinique. The flight apollo missions home took 10 hours and 23 minutes before the F-RBAB Atlas landed on BA125 Istres at 07:48 local time on Saterday 15 March 2014.
