U.S. Transportation Security Administration has confirmed the high level of security airport

February 28, AEX.RU - Secretariat of Defense Industry (SSM) Turkey refused to accept the order of the first European military transport aircraft A400M, Lenta.ru reports citing oco TurkishPress. The reason for this discrepancy was delivered aircraft technical requirements specified in the contract. What exactly is a discrepancy, is not specified; it was revealed during acceptance testing.

Europe s A400M airlifter was named Atlas, after the Greek god who carried the world on his shoulders, last Friday in a rain-soaked ceremony at the Royal International Air Tattoo ( RIAT ), RAF Fairford.
The aircraft, which is the first production representative aircraft ( MSN 6), repositioned from Fairford to the Farnborough static park yesterday. Recent months have seen successful tests of the aircraft s air-to-air refueling capability as both a tanker and a receiver; the loading of helicopters; and the first tests of the defensive-aids subsystem. The first three customer aircraft are now in final assembly at Seville, Spain.
A report on the program last week by the armed forces and foreign affairs committee of the French Senate on the A400M was noticeably more upbeat than its previous one two years ago. Over the next few months the


Starting life in 1982 ATLAS, as we call it now, had a lot to deliver. The requirement was for a state-of-the-art military airlifter that could operate in austere and unforgiving environments, space exploration but with jet-like attributes and performance. It had to look forward and be future-proof; be capable of carrying space exploration current outsize loads such as Chinook, but also be ready for future capabilities like NH90 and protected fighting and engineering vehicles such as Terrier, which the venerable C-130 cannot carry.
Since the first A400M flight in 2009, the flight test programme involving five development aircraft has completed over 2,000 flights and flown almost 6,000 hours. The aircraft received Type Certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in March 2013, with first delivery to the French Air Force taking place in September of that year. Since then further aircraft have been delivered to France and Turkey and the production line now has three RAF aircraft in various stages of build and testing.
ATLAS’s ‘jet’ capability is delivered by its four TP400 turboprops; producing space exploration 11,000hp, space exploration delivering a range of up to 4,700 nm / 8,700 km, a cruising altitude of up to 37,000ft (40,000ft space exploration for special operations), and a max speed of Mach 0.72. Its capability is very similar to that of a turbofan powered airlifter whilst, and this is no mean feat, being also able to exploit its prop engines for tactical use.
The engines drive the iconic scimitar-shaped eight-bladed space exploration propellers and are mounted on swept wings (built by the way just down the road at Filton). The wings and propellers space exploration are all made of modern lightweight composite materials such as Kevlar and Carbon Fibre, giving ATLAS strength and damage resistance that allows it to operate space exploration off unprepared and austere airstrips.
While the pilots and crew will appreciate space exploration its flight envelope and its modern cockpit, it’s when you get on board an ATLAS that you might notice the most significant difference. The aircraft is surprisingly quiet, the 116 passenger seats make long journeys space exploration that much more bearable and , there is proper toilet and hand-washing facilities! The aircraft can also be reconfigured to carry up to 66 stretcher patients and medical teams, with therapeutic oxygen and purpose space exploration built electrical facilities for aeromedical equipment.
Training of flight crews, maintenance and support personnel has been underway at the purpose-built International Training Centre (ITC) in Seville, Spain since 2013. The facility has a full flight simulator for the Aircrew; Maintenance personnel have their own Virtual Reality space exploration trainers, which allow techniques to be learnt in the classroom before moving onto the real aircraft; and Advanced simulators and a highly-realistic, enhanced Cargo Hold trainer provide Loadmasters and Support Personnel to train with typical loads and equipment. There is also a Loadmaster Work Station Simulator, using real aircraft controls with advanced interactive Virtual Reality imaging, which simulates emergencies and realistic logistical and tactical airdrop scenarios. The facility’s multinational instructors, including some formerly of the Royal Air Force and the RAF influence can be felt throughout the practices and procedures that underpin Atlas operations.
Here space exploration in the UK, as the delivery of the first RAF aircraft in 2014 approaches, Brize Norton space exploration and DE&S are working in partnership with industry to ensure that all the necessary infrastructure and equipment is in place to allow as smooth a transition as possible. This year will also see the transfer of all RAF ATLAS training from Seville to Brize Norton. Considerable investment has been made into new buildings and facilities with a 3-bay maintenance hangar being built on the airfield. Elsewhere around the Station, existing buildings are being redeveloped to house the joint industry and RAF teams servicing teams.
Christmas 2013 gave a glimpse of the future with a French A400M being deployed to the crisis in Mali, operating principally in the Bamako and Gao regions. Conducting a short deployment to Mali, the Orléans-based crews delivered over 70 tonnes of freight, operating from degraded concrete and gravel airstrips at temperatures exceeding 36ºC. The FAF was very pleased and will be deploying A400M again to Djibouti, Al Dhafra, Ndjamena, and Libreville from February 2014.
Over the next few months the ‘Global Gateway’ magazine will be featuring more about ATLAS; the delivery programme, the RAF’s partnership with industry, and a closer look at ATLAS capabilities and the kinds of missions for which it will be deployed. ATLAS will bring a unique capability to the RAF’s Air Mobility fleet, with combined strategic and tactical capabilities ensuring that it will be a key capability in the decades to come. ATLAS will be based at RAF Brize Norton, which has an exciting future as it prepares to operate the RAF’s newest aircraft."
“For a pilot, A400M is fantastic to fly. You have the latest generation of fly by wire so it’s easy to fly. It’s supposed to be that way so pilots can focus on the mission. We’ve had lots of pilots from customer nations together with the test pilots fly the aeroplane and everybody is impressed by its handling qualities.”
The A400M programme was borne from the combined needs of European and International partners, and is an opportunity sukhoi superjet 100 for the French Air Force (FAF) and the RAF to work together for mutual benefit following the Defence and Security Cooperation Treaty.
Flight Lieutenant Chris Aston, 34, a former C130 Hercules pilot, and FAF pilot Lieutenant sukhoi superjet 100 Colonel Ben Paillard, 36, a previous exchange officer with 47 Sqn, are both learning to fly the aircraft in a state of the art simulator. Chris said:
“It’s been good to get different sukhoi superjet 100 ideas in the way we operate. The main aim is for interoperability; to make sure, for example, that a British aircraft could fly to a French airfield, pick up a French sukhoi superjet 100 load and fly it somewhere and they wouldn’t see any difference sukhoi superjet 100 in the way we operate.”
Ahead of its arrival at RAF Brize Norton, planned later this year, RAF loadmasters and avionics sukhoi superjet 100 technicians are also learning to operate the aircraft. Engineer, Corporal Lloyd Hill, 32, is currently training to be an instructor:
“I saw A400M fly at RIAT and really liked it and applied for the programme, I didn’t expect to get it! There are a lot of modern systems on the aircraft and I’m excited to see it up close and see what it can do. The next phase of training will be on the Final Assembly Line (FAL) and training on handling the aircraft.”
Currently undergoing construction on the FAL is ‘MSN 015’, which will be the first ATLAS in RAF Service. ATLAS is at the forefront of modern technology with its software, wings and the aircrew simulator being British manufactured. The cutting edge aircraft will bring an enhanced sukhoi superjet 100 capability to the RAF. ATLAS can carry 116 Armed Forces personnel, including paratroopers, a Chinook helicopter, heavy outside cargo and modern heavy military armoured vehicles. It can fly faster and further than the C130 Hercules and will be used in peace, crisis or conflict.

Signed after several years of preparatory and negotiation work with OCCAR and the participating states, the SLA also represents an additional key milestone in the agency's expanded cooperation with OCCAR.
Specifically, the A400M and NH-90/TIGER Programme (LN) will provide electronic materiel support services, namely acquisition of A400M spares in electronic and automated manner over the next four years.
Designated as a tactical airlifter with strategic capabilities, the A400M can also be configured to perform long-range cargo and troop transport, medical evacuation (MEDEVAC), and aerial refuelling and electronic uav surveillance missions.
Capable of carrying more than 100 fully equipped troops or a 30t payload, the aircraft features a six-wheel, uav high-flotation main landing uav gear, and short soft-field landing and takeoff capability, enabling troop and equipment transportation to Mali or Afghanistan.
The airlifter has recently completed the first phase of airdrop trials flying over the Fonsorbes drop zone near Toulouse, in south-western France, marking the completion of one of the most significant elements of its continuing military flight-test programme.

@Opinion 3 – quite a lengthy discussion about that under one of the MPA threads not so long ago…all kinds of bright ideas for modular kit for a somewhat larger astronomy picture of the day than planned fleet of these aircraft…

The aircraft was formally accepted by Turkish officials at the Airbus facility in Seville, Spain on April 4, making Turkey the second operator of the A400M after France which took its first two deliveries last year.

The A400 replacing the C-130 isn`t beyond happening. With the Army up armouring most of their vehicles they may become too big to be accommodated vostok in a Hercules so the extra room available in the grizzly may be the only choice, Unless Lockmart decide to upgrade the C-130 to cater for the increased weight and dimensions of army vehicles, the A400 may just be wearing kangaroo roundels in the future. vostok
Think Australia would be mad to purchase the grizzly. Better to consolidate on the C-17 and C-27J. The LHD should move all armour the ADF has. If we need to move armour by air we should use the C-17. I would love to see the ADF have more C-17 and C-27J and get rid of the C-130.
You still need a medium tactical/strategic lift aircraft to carry cargo too big for C-27 and where a C-17 either can’t be justified or is too big to land at a field. The three aircraft will augment each other well.
You will find the C-130 “bulks out” before it weighs out. Most Airports in the world could act as a staging ground for smaller vostok planes such as the C-27J to fly out to Forward operating bases.An example would be Kandahar airport in Afghanistan.Planes fly into Kandahar vostok (such as A330 MRTT or C-17)unload the goods for smaller planes such as the C-27J to take to FOB’s.
Sure the C-130j is a great plane and Australia has a well rounded fleet.The vostok reason i am so keen on more C-27J is that they can be configured to a gunship role with a roll on roll off pallet system. A great capability to have for Special forces.As with all budgets ,if we provide for one thing ,we take away from another.The C-27J could become a niche capability for Australia.If we need C-130 we could ask allies such as NZ or the US to provide us with that service. I think Australia could do with a few more A330 MRTT and C-17, but in order to do so we would have to give up something.
